Hebrews 12:9

· Why is it even good and        desirable that God would grab your life and my life and shake it and shake it until everything that could be shaken was gone?

· If you are experiencing a difficult time in your life, you will realize that God is busy purifying those He loves.

Ephesians 5:25-27

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the Word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

· Lives that make a difference are often tested in the furnace of affliction and difficulty.

Isaiah 48:10-11

Behold I have refined you but not as silver; I have tested you in the    furnace of affliction.

· The church needs to be shaken so that false believers will either repent or be separated from the flock.

1 Peter 4:12, 16-17, 19

· Our faith is tested not that God would learn if our faith is       enduring faith but that we will learn if it is enduring.

· Tragedy can bring out the best in us. It can draw us closer to God and deepen our commitment to Him.

Job 19:25-26

For I know that my Redeemer lives and He shall stand at last on the earth; and after my skin is          destroyed , this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God.

Malachi 3:3a

He will sit as a Refiner and a Purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer to the Lord an offering of righteousness.
